Over 200 police officers raided two bars in Central Highlands’ Dak Lak Province in the early hours of Saturday, finding 44 people testing positive with narcotics.
Bar 47 on Buon Ma Thuot Town’s Che Lan Vien Street and Bar Monaco on Ly Thai To Street were blasting music when police officers rushed in. Crowds of customers tried to escape but were all detained. Packers containing drugs were found littering the floor.
A gun loaded with 25 bullets was also found in Bar Monaco, hidden under the chair of 32-year-old Tran Tien Dung. Dung and other suspects were taken to the police station, where Dung confessed to have bought the firearm for VND3 million ($129) in Cambodia in 2016 for self-defense.
A quick drug test revealed 44 people testing positive for narcotics. Police are gathering more evidence to fine the two bars’ owners for various violations.
