HCM CITY — The HCM City Department of Transport has announced it would undertake 29 key traffic projects this year at a cost of VNĐ234.2 trillion (US$10.53 billion).
They will be funded by the Government and official development assistance through investments in the form of public-private partnerships will be also considered.
According to the department, all the projects are large and complex, and will help ease traffic in the city and enhance inter-regional connectivity.
The 29 include 13 ongoing works like the widening of the Hà Nội Highway, four main roads in the Thủ Thiêm Urban Area, the Mỹ Thủy intersection in Thủ Đức city, and a tunnel under Nguyễn Văn Linh and Nguyễn Hữu Thọ streets in District 7.
It will begin work on six urgent projects this year, including the An Phú Intersection in Thủ Đức city, widening of National Highway No 50 in Bình Chánh District and a new road linking Trần Quốc Hoàn and Cộng Hòa streets in Tân Bình District.
The others are the HCM City Green Transport Development, metro line No.2 between Bến Thành Market in District 1 and Tham Lương Depot in District 12 and a link between the bus network and metro line No 1.
The transport sector getting investment procedures underway for 10 projects, including the Cần Giờ Bridge, Thủ Thiêm Bridge No 4, Long Bình ICD transshipment hub, a road between Võ Văn Kiệt Street and the HCM City-Trung Lương Express Way in Bình Chánh District, ring roads No 2, 3 and 4, and the Mộc Bài-HCM City Expressway.
The department also issued a list of delayed projects and called on their developers and contractors to speed up work. — – VnExpress News
