Việt Nam records 3,088 new COVID-19 cases, three deaths on Wednesday

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam on Wednesday reported 3,088 new COVID-19 infections, up slightly compared to yesterday, bringing the country’s total caseload to 10,662,446.

The capital city of Hà Nội and the northern province of Phú Thọ saw the highest daily increases with 705 and 268 new cases respectively. 

The remaining transmissions were detected in Vĩnh Phúc (198), Nghệ An (133), Quảng Ninh (130), Bắc Kạn (126), Yên Bái (116), Hải Dương (114), Tuyên Quang (106), Lào Cai (102), Hưng Yên (73), Quảng Bình (60), Hà Giang (58), Thái Bình (55), Hà Nam (54), Lâm Đồng (52), Cao Bằng (49), Quảng Trị (45), Thái Nguyên (44), Hà Tĩnh (43), Quảng Ngãi (38), Ninh Bình (38), HCM City (36), Hải Phòng (35), Đắk Nông (33), Nam Định (33), Hòa Bình (32), Sơn La (30), Bình Dương (29), Bắc Giang (25), Lai Châu (25), Đà Nẵng (24), Gia Lai (23), Thanh Hóa (21), Lạng Sơn (21), Bình Phước (17), Tây Ninh (16), Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu (14), Cà Mau (11), Vĩnh Long (10), Bến Tre (9), Sóc Trăng (8 ), Thừa Thiên Huế (7), Bình Thuận (6), Bình Định (6), Khánh Hòa (5), Điện Biên (3) and Kiên Giang (2).

The seven-day rolling average of new cases currently stands at 4,418, less than half the figure reported a week ago (9,460 on April 27), marking the steady decline of the outbreak in Việt Nam.

The health ministry said 42,055 patients were declared recovered from the virus, bringing the number of recoveries in the country to 9,309,336.

480 patients currently require oxygen, including two on life support.

There were three new COVID-related deaths, one each in the southern provinces of An Giang, Bến Tre and Bình Dương.

The seven-day average of daily fatalities in Việt Nam is currently at two, down from seven a week ago.

To date, the country has recorded 43,074 COVID-19 deaths, about 0.4 per cent of the confirmed caseload.

A total of 215,022,051 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered so far, including 196,089,135 doses in the adult population, 17,377,112 doses in children aged 12-17, and 1,555,804 doses children aged 5-11. — – VnExpress News
