HCMC to launch $430 cruise tour along Saigon River

Authorities in Ho Chi Minh City plan to launch a cruise tour along the Saigon River that would target the middle and high-end tourist segment.

Passengers will depart from the marina at Lan Anh villa area in Thu Duc City. The cruise will go down the Saigon River, taking tourists through Red Light Cape, Nha Rong Wharf, Bach Dang Wharf, Ba Son Port, Vietnam’s tallest building Landmark 81, and Thu Thiem 2 Bridge.

During the three-hour journey, which will cost VND5-10 million ($216-432), tourists can enjoy a tea party, cocktails, wine or sweet cakes while exploring the scenery along both sides of the river, along with saxophone and violin performances.

Each tour can serve 10 to 25 passengers, with many cruise companies involved.

HCMC has been making efforts to diversify travel experiences for tourists post reopening.

Last December, it launched a boat tour at night along the Saigon River.

During the Reunification Day holiday last week, it debuted a helicopter tour that allows visitors to view the metropolis from above at a price of VND4.08 million per person.

HCMC hopes to receive 25 million domestic and 3.5 million foreign tourists this year.

Its tourism sector has a revenue target of VND97.7 trillion.
