HÀ NỘI — The National Press Festival opened at the Hanoi Museum on Wednesday, displaying outstanding publications in early 2022.
The event is held by the Vietnam Journalists’ Association (VJA) and the Hanoi People’s Committee in collaboration with the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
It takes place on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of the VJA (April 21), and ahead of the 97th Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21).
Following the opening ceremony was an exhibition marking the 100th anniversary of “Le Paria” newspaper.
A series of other events are organised on the sidelines of the three-day festival, including a press photo show on spring roads, a forum on digital transformation, a discussion on humanity in journalism and a concert featuring performances by journalists.
The organisers will also present several awards for the best Tết (Lunar New Year) magazine cover photo, the best news website design and the best TV and radio programmes. There is also an award for organisations and individuals with outstanding activities at the festival.
The festival, scheduled to last until Friday, provides an opportunity to honour the strong development of Việt Nam’s journalism and journalists’ creative works, and to promote exchange and cooperation between journalists and the public.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Publicity and Education, Nguyễn Trọng Nghĩa welcomed the organisation of a successful National Press Festival.
This is the second year of implementing the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress, and the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 11th Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association for the 2020-25 term.
He emphasised that in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, that has affected the world and Việt Nam, under the leadership of the Party, Politburo, Secretariat and General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng, the Government, the country and Vietnamese people have gradually repelled the pandemic.
He said journalists have been proactive and reflected the activities of people and the whole political system truthfully and objectively, creating consensus in society, as well as strengthening people’s confidence in the leadership of the Party and the State.
The National Press Festival is a political, social and cultural activity, contributing to enriching journalistic life and an opportunity to show off the revolutionary press force.
The festival was also an affirmation of the country’s transition to a new normal after the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. — VnExpress News
