Binh Tan District tops HCMC’s administrative reform ranking

The outlying Binh Tan District takes the lead in Ho Chi Minh City’s 2021 Public Administration Reform Index ranking thanks to its technology application.

According to the list released Tuesday by the city’s Steering Committee for Administrative Reform, Binh Tan leads 21 districts and Thu Duc City with 94.27 points.

It is followed by District 10 with 93.48 points and the central District 1 with 93.01 points.

District 7, home to a large expat community, brought up the rear with 78.82 points.

Nguyen Duc Thinh, head of the administrative reform agency under the Department of Home Affairs, said Binh Tan rose to the top as it has successfully applied information technology, created breakthroughs and pleased the people, especially in urban development.

Regarding municipal departments, the Department of Justice tops with 95.06 points, followed by the Department of Planning and Investment with 94.98 and the Food Safety Management Authority of HCMC with 94.89. At the bottom of the list is the Department of Culture and Sports with 75.04.

Huynh Thanh Nhan, director of the Department of Home Affairs, deputy director of the city’s Administrative Reform Steering Committee, said that in addition to the impact of Covid-19, the administrative reform index of many units in 2021 decreased due to a lack of proper attention and when the pandemic hit, some units remained passive in carrying out administrative procedures.
