HCM CITY — Two more trains meant for HCM City’s metro line No 1 arrived at Khánh Hội Port on March 11, according to the HCM City Urban Railway Management Board.
They are the 12th and 13th of a total of 17 trains to be delivered by Japanese contractors, and will be transported to the Long Bình depot for assembling and testing.
The 14th and 15th trains are expected to arrive late this month.
Each has 147 seats and can carry 930 passengers, and travel at a speed of up to 80km per hour underground and 110km on the surface.
Line No.1 will be the first of at least six to be built in the city, aiming to ease traffic congestion in city’s north-eastern gateway.
The VNĐ43.76 trillion (US$1.9 billion) line to run from Bến Thành Market in District 1 to Suối Tiên Theme Park in District 9 will be 19.7km long and have 14 stations, three of them underground.
The underground portion below Lê Lợi Street and Bến Thành Market is expected to be finished by April 30.
Nguyễn Quốc Hiển, deputy head of the MAUR said construction of the line is 89 per cent complete, and commercial operation would begin by next year. — VnExpress News
