Four people were hit by stray bullets and another four sustained minor injuries trying to flee when a gunman opened fire outside a Bangkok pub during Songkran festivities on Monday.
The shooting took place around 1 a.m. outside the Ornic Pub on Royal City Avenue, one of Bangkok’s most popular entertainment venues, National Thailand reported.
A party was in full swing when a man showed up and began arguing with a partygoer before pulling out his gun and firing several shots into the ground.
Police officers rushed to the scene and found 10 bullet casings in the area.
The suspect was detained the same day.
Though Songkran festivities officially ended last Saturday, water fights continue to be held across Bangkok.
During Songkran, a Thai New Year celebration, crowds pack the streets for boisterous celebrations involving the widespread spraying of water guns and the hurling of water from pick-up trucks.
