29 countries to showcase military power in Vietnam

Speaking at an event to announce the expo in Hanoi on Thursday, Major General Nguyen Viet Hung, deputy political commissar of the General Department of Defense Industry, said national and international defense companies will display combat vehicles, technologies, weapons and equipment for the navy, land force, air force as well as cyber warfare forces.

As the host country, Vietnam will focus on technologies and products bearing the art of defense and people’s war, including guns and ammunition for the army, artillery, air force, and navy, chemical explosive products, detonators, optical weapons, military and auxiliary ships, armors, equipment for diversionary tactics, communication systems, radar stations, and electronic warfare systems.

New technologies in control systems, simulation training, optoelectronic devices, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), cyber warfare systems and information technology, weapons and equipment, supporting technology, patrol technology, security control, as well as fire prevention and fighting, will also be displayed at the exhibition.

Held on Dec. 8 – 10 at Gia Lam airport in Hanoi, the exhibition is an opportunity to diversify channels of cooperation in procurement and technology transfer to serve the production of technical equipment, logistics equipment of weapons, meeting the current needs of Vietnam’s armed forces, said major General Hung.

This is also an opportunity for Vietnam to learn about the development trend of technical equipment in the world to seek export opportunities for military equipment, he said.

So far, 170 units and companies, including those in Vietnam and those from 29 countries in Asia, Europe and America, including the U.S., Russia, France, and Germany, have registered to join the free-entry exhibition.
