HÀ NỘI — Nineteen enterprises from the US, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, China and other countries have so far signed memorandums of understanding (MoU) to invest in the Việt Nam Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP), according to a representative of VSIP Cần Thơ JSC.
The total leased land area is approximately 100 hectares, with a total investment capital of around US$200 million.
It is expected that in the first quarter of 2025, VSIP will sign land lease contracts with the customers and complete investment procedures, handing over the land for factory construction in the third quarter next year.
The Industrial Park investor is currently implementing a package of weak soil treatment, with around 30 per cent of the work completed so far. This phase is expected to be finished by the end of 2024.
In early 2025, the infrastructure development will start with it scheduled for completion by June 2025 to accommodate the incoming investors.
Concurrently, the investor is also setting up a wastewater treatment plant, fire prevention and control systems and a clean water pump station.
The VSIP Company has requested the Cần Thơ City’s support and guidance to help investors participate in bidding for sand mining operations. This is aimed at alleviating the current challenges faced by investors regarding the limited supply and high prices of fill materials.
At a meeting with the leadership of Vĩnh Thành District, VSIP Cần Thơ and other relevant units on August 13, Nguyễn Văn Hiếu, Secretary of the Cần Thơ City Party Committee, provided clear directives to ensure the effective implementation of the VSIP project.
He requested the Departments of Construction and Transport to assign officials to directly coordinate with Vĩnh Thành District to adjust the project plan, design the road connections from the VSIP Industrial Park to Vàm Cống Bridge and ensure site clearance for the connecting route is completed by August.
The road connecting the Vàm Cống Bridge to the Industrial Park must be finished before the 2025 Lunar New Year.
Relevant departments and local authorities must ensure the building progress of resettlement areas, aiming to have 300 lots ready for handover to relocated residents by the end of 2024. The resettlement process must not affect the project implementation or the affected people. — VNS
