A pod of dolphins has been spotted swimming near Son Tra Peninsula in the central city of Da Nang, sparking excitement among local people.
A video clip shared by Vo Nguyen Thai Duy that has gone viral on social media with over 26,000 likes and 1,100 comments shows around 20 dolphins leaping over a meter out of the water.
“The pod of dolphins swim for a long time only a kilometer from shore,” Duy, a fisherman, said.
Nguyen Duc Vu, head of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourist beach management board, said dolphins are naturally friendly towards humans.
In the past dolphins have been stranded ashore with injuries, but this is the first time locals have observed the mammals swimming near the peninsula.
