Thanh Hoa crushed Khanh Hoa 3-2 at the 14th round of Toyota V. League 1 in Khanh Hoa Stadium yesterday.
With this win, Thanh Hoa earned 28 points to rank second among 14 teams. With 21 points, Khanh Hoa rank seventh. Binh Duong take the lead with 29 points after drawing 1-1 with Song Lam Nghe An at Go Dau Stadium on Saturday.
From a simple attack situation in the 18th minute, Le Van Tan put his header past Khanh Hoa’s goalkeeper to open the score for visitors Thanh Hoa.
The hosts made many quick attacks to level goals, and they succeeded when striker Iheroume Uche scored a goal in the 30th minute.
Being equalised, Thanh Hoa played attack-defence to restrain their rival’s excitement. Although the hosts created several chances to score goals, they failed.
In late first half, taking full advantage of a mistake by Khanh Hoa’s defenders, Le Thanh Binh raised the score to 2-1 for Thanh Hoa.
After the break, Khanh Hoa dominated the match. From a penalty kick in the 70th minute, Huynh Kesley helped the hosts level the score at 2-2.
However, only nine minutes later, Tan scored his second goal at the game, helping Thanh Hoa win 3-2.
In another match at Pleiku Stadium in Gia Lai Province, the Central Highlands, Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) tied 1-1 with the northern port city of Hai Phong.
HAGL proved their strength with an early goal by striker Sanogo Moussa in the 17th minute, but they didn’t retain their domination.
In the 47th minute, HAGL’s Anzite Franklin made an error in the penalty area, giving the visitors a penalty. At the penalty spot, striker Anthony Stevens easily defeated Minh Nhut goalie with a low shot, levelling the score at 1-1 for Hai Phong.
HAGL had two more chances to score goals but they didn’t break Hai Phong’s defence line-up.
Elsewhere, Dong Thap beat dark horse Quang Ninh Coal 2-1. Sanna Khanh Hoa lost to Thanh Hoa 2-3, and Ha Noi T&T beat SHB Da Nang 2-0.
