Becamex Binh Duong defeated Hanoi T&T 4-2 to secure their first National Cup Saturday in a match marked by a violent foul against Senegalese striker Cheikh Abass Dieng.
Becamex Binh Duong, who had won the V-League that concluded last week, dominated the match from the kickoff with Tan Tai, Dieng, Cong Vinh, and Anh Duc carrying out well-coordinated attacks.
Dieng scored the first goal in the 20th minute from close range.
In the 31st minute, Vinh sped past several Hanoi defenders to score the second.
In the 47th minute Dieng missed a double after hitting the crossbar.
But just two minutes later Trong Hoang got a pass from Vinh and slotted the ball past goalkeeper Anh Dung to score the third goal.
In a rare attack in the 62nd minute Argentinian striker Gonzalo Marronkle reduced the margin for Hanoi.
In the 68th minute, Hanoi’s Thanh Hao got a red card for a brutal foulwhen he plowed into Dieng’s left foot with boot feet to block an attack. Dieng fell writhing in pain and an ambulance came to the pitch to took him to hospital.
Hoang completed a double in the 80th minute to make it 4-1 before Hoang Vu Samson made it 4-2 in the 87th minute.
Thanh Hao, who began to sob after the foul, visited Dieng Viet Phap Hospital before his surgery, saying he did not mean to cause the injury, and Dieng said he did not blame Hao for it.
