Customs officers at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi discovered 6.5kg of synthetic drugs and cocaine hidden in the luggage of a passenger coming from Hong Kong on Sunday
The passenger, Dinh Dac Khanh, who is a Hong Konger but hails from the northern Vietnamese city of Hai Phong, arrived at the airport on flight VN593 at 3:30 pm.
On scanning Khanh’s luggage, customs officers found suspicious signs so they searched it manually.
These officers later found many bags of yellow powder stashed among other objects packed in 12 metal boxes in a suitcase.
Tests showed that a part of the powder was cocaine, weighing 4.572 kg, and the remaining was synthetic drugs, weighing 1.984 kg.
Customs officers made a report about the findings and handed over the passenger and the drugs to Hanoi police for investigation.
