Puppeteers from 10 countries will participate in the fourth international puppetry festival, which will be held in Ha Noi from October 10 to 16.
The interesting cultural event aims to promote cultural relationships in the arts between Viet Nam and other countries.
Director of the department of performing arts Nguyen Dang Chuong said puppetry groups from Russia, England, Thailand and Myanmar, besides Cambodia, Germany, Laos and Belgium, as well as the Philippines will participate in the festival.
The three Vietnamese puppetry groups taking part in the event are Viet Nam puppetry theatre, Thang Long puppetry theatre and Hai Phong puppetry theatre.
Chuong said the international puppetry groups would bring new shows to the festival, and the local groups would also present new plays.
Eighteen shows of various forms such as water puppetry, shadow puppetry and mask puppetry will be held, showcasing the typical cultural features of each country.
In addition to the main performances in Ha Noi, the puppetry groups will also perform in many northern provinces of Viet Nam, such as Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa and Hai Duong, besides Vinh Phuc.
Their performances will enrich the spiritual life of the local people, enhance the understanding of foreign friends about Vietnamese culture, as well as tighten mutual international relationships through arts activities.
The board of organisers of the festival will also set up stages at different locations to entertain different audiences.
The inauguration ceremony of the fourth international puppetry festival will be held on October 10 at the Ha Noi Opera House and will be broadcast live on TV.
