Thirty-two beauties have been selected to join the finale of the “Miss Vietnam Ocean 2014” pageant held from May 14 to 25 in the central coastal province of Binh Thuan, the organizer said on May 4.
During the final round, the contestants will partake in such eco-friendly activities as collecting trash, paying visits to local fishermen, cycling, planting trees, and promoting environmental protection and sea tourism at schools in Phan Thiet City, the provincial capital.
During this time, the judges will also select winners of some extra titles, including Miss “Ao Dai,” Miss Fashion, Miss Bikini, Miss Talent, and Miss Photogenic.
A gala night will be held at 8:00 pm on May 25 on Nguyen Tat Thanh Square in Phan Thiet.
Before heading to the central province, the 32 contestants participated in several social activities in southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province for four days.
On May 10 and 11, they attended a charity auction and Vietnamese fashion designer Vo Viet Chung’s show Miss Sai Gon, introduced the VND1.6 billion (US$75,880) crown which will be given to the pageant’s winner, and swam with local kids to raise public awareness of child safety in coastal regions.
On May 12 and 13, they moved to the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang’s Phu Quoc Island to join another charity auction and engage in some other eco-friendly social activities.
The beauties were selected from 43 participants who competed in a qualification round held in Hanoi on April 20 and Ho Chi Minh City on April 25. The semi-final round took place in the southern hub on May 1.
The winner will be presented with VND400 million ($18,970) in cash and the VND1.6 billion ($75,880) crown.
