A meeting was held this morning to celebrate the Viet Nam Sea and Islands Week and World Ocean Day in Quang Ngai City in the central Quang Ngai Province.
At the event in My Khe beach, more than 1,500 people held a parade, cleaned the environment and the beach, and released fish to help conserve resources.
Entitled “Ocean blue, green planet”, the week is being organised by the
natural resources and environment ministry, in collaboration with the Quang Ngai People’s Committee.
The event was a chance to raise the community’s awareness about environment protection and to promote the value and environment of the nation’s sea and islands.
The marine economy is expected to contribute 53 to 55 per cent of Viet Nam’s GDP by 2020.
