The annual Vietnam Motor Show 2014 (VMS 2014) kicked off its 10th edition in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday, showcasing automobiles with new technology and design by 16 automakers.
The motor show, one of the most important events of the Vietnamese auto industry, is jointly hosted by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA) and the authorized dealerships of global automakers from November 19 to 23.
The exhibition this year, themed Dam Me Hoi Ngo (Passion Reunion), showcases user- and environment-friendly designs and technologies by nine VAMA members and seven imported brands.
The VAMA businesses include Ford, GM, Hino, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Suzuki, Toyota, Vinastar, and Daimler Trucks, while the foreign players are Audi, BMW & Mini Cooper, Land Rover, Porsche, Nissan and Lexus.
Sales during the last three months of a year usually account for 35 percent of the full-year figure, according to industry insiders.
The VAMA Motor Show is thus considered a “grand feast” for automakers to introduce their latest products.
Among the brand new vehicles to be showcased at the event are Lexus GX 460, Audi TT, Audi A3 sport back, Audi A7 sport back, BMW Series 4 Gran Coupe, BMW M4 and MINI Convertile, Mercedes Benz S 500 4MATIC Coupe, GLA 45 AMG 4MATIC Edition 1, and SL 400 2LOOK Edition.
Businesses that make car parts also attend the exhibition.
